Daniel's Mind

I am interested in Economics, business, venture and finance. The consensus view is usually the least interesting one in the room, so I spend most of my time on the arguments against it, including the ones against my own views.

This space is where all of my work lives: what I write, the videos I make, the things I build, and what I am reading.

What I keep coming back to is incentives, and the gap between the reason given for a decision and the reason behind it. That gap explains more than most of the analysis written about it.

I have visited 67 countries, and one of my main goals in life is to see all 195. Seeing how other people live is the quickest way to understand that most of what we take as given is a matter of perspective, and understanding this is critical to explore positions openly.

I am vocal about what I think, which is not the same as being right, though I will defend a position rather than hedge it. You are in the right place if you would rather follow the reasoning than skip to the conclusion, and if you only want the conclusion, most of what follows will be too long.
